Hot Springs in Arizona

Ringbolt Hot Springs (also called Arizona Hot Spring) near Hoover Dam is the main draw here. The hike drops through a narrow slot canyon inside Lake Mead National Recreation Area, ending at a hot waterfall that feeds a series of soaking pools. The canyon walls tower overhead and the route involves some scrambling. Check current conditions before heading out, as flash flood risk is real.

Arizona's geothermal heat comes from Basin and Range geology, where the crust is stretched thin enough for deep heat to reach the surface. Visit between October and April. Summer air temperatures regularly exceed 110 degrees near these springs, making hot water soaking dangerous in the warmer months. Carry plenty of water on any desert spring hike regardless of season.
